In this Spanish lesson we are going to look at and practice when to use the Spanish word Lo. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. <\/p>\n

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my Advanced Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Now play the audio to listen a conversation. Can you understand what is being said? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Hola Steve \u00bfSab\u00edas que Pablo se va a vivir a Alemania?<\/p>\n

Steve: No, no lo sab\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Pues s\u00ed, por lo visto no encuentra trabajo en Madrid y se va la semana que viene a Berl\u00edn a buscarse la vida.<\/p>\n

Steve: \u00bfPero as\u00ed a lo loco? \u00bfSin trabajo ni alojamiento?<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Sin trabajo ni alojamiento, como lo oyes. A lo mejor tiene amigos que viven all\u00ed y puede vivir con ellos una temporada. No lo s\u00e9, la verdad.<\/p>\n

Steve: Se le ve\u00eda bastante triste \u00faltimamente. <\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: S\u00ed, es verdad. Lo que necesita es un cambio de aires. Buscar trabajo d\u00eda tras d\u00eda y no encontrar nada es duro.<\/p>\n

Steve: S\u00ed, lo es. Tienes raz\u00f3n. Yo tengo suerte con mi trabajo de profesor de ingl\u00e9s. Tengo much\u00edsimos estudiantes ahora.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: S\u00ed, es que lo que los espa\u00f1oles necesitamos es hablar ingl\u00e9s bien. \u00a1Te necesitamos Steve!<\/p>\n

Steve: Bueno, yo tengo que mejorar mi espa\u00f1ol tambi\u00e9n.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: \u00a1Qu\u00e9 dices! Lo hablas muy bien.<\/p>\n

Steve: Bueno, a veces no comprendo todo lo que la gente dice.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Eso es porque los espa\u00f1oles hablamos muy r\u00e1pido.<\/p>\n

Steve: S\u00ed, puede que sea por eso.<\/p>\n
