In this Spanish lesson we are going to look at the difference between the Spanish words Saber and Conocer. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. <\/p>\n

Now play the audio to listen a conversation. Can you understand what is being said? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Carlota: Sam \u00bfSabes si Marta va a venir a las clases de franc\u00e9s?
\nSam: No s\u00e9, no me dijo nada cuando le coment\u00e9 que hoy empezaban.
\nCarlota: Ah vale. Como sabe hablar varios idiomas pensaba que le gustar\u00eda aprender franc\u00e9s.
\nSam: Igual no necesita las clases. S\u00e9 que su hermano Tom\u00e1s habla franc\u00e9s muy bien, as\u00ed que igual ella tambi\u00e9n. \u00bfConoces a Tom\u00e1s?
\nCarlota: \u00bfA Tom\u00e1s? Me suena que le he visto alguna vez, pero no le conozco personalmente.
\nSam: Pues Tom\u00e1s sabe diez idiomas.
\nCarlota: \u00bfDiez? \u00a1Qu\u00e9 m\u00e1quina! Yo con saber ingl\u00e9s y franc\u00e9s me conformo.
\nSam: Ya, es dif\u00edcil aprender idiomas.
\nCarlota: Espero aprender algo con estas clases de franc\u00e9s. \u00bfT\u00fa sabes algo?
\nSam: No, nada. \u00bfT\u00fa?
\nCarlota: Me s\u00e9 una canci\u00f3n en franc\u00e9s de memoria. Me la ense\u00f1\u00f3 mi madre cuando era peque\u00f1a. Sol\u00edamos ir a Francia de vacaciones. Conozco Francia bastante bien, pero no s\u00e9 nada de franc\u00e9s.
