Present\u00eda que algo iba a ocurrir, pero por un sentimiento de esos extra\u00f1os, no acertaba a encontrar la causa. \u00bfAlgo bueno? \u00bfMalo quiz\u00e1? Dif\u00edcil saberlo.<\/p>\n<p>De repente una tarde sal\u00ed de casa, pues necesitaba hacer algunas compras. Y mi asombro comenz\u00f3 al ver la calle semidesierta. \u201cSer\u00e1 por la hora, demasiado temprano con este calor\u201d, pens\u00e9. Una vez en la tienda, me recibi\u00f3 un dependiente con cara larga y malhumorada, as\u00ed que fui r\u00e1pida. De vuelta a la calle, apenas ni coches circulaban. Solo un extra\u00f1o, aunque familiar ruido de fondo que parec\u00eda de radio, al que no hice demasiado caso\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Coloqu\u00e9 la compra, encend\u00ed mi ordenador, y pens\u00e9 en pasar alg\u00fan rato en Facebook, charlando con mis amigos. \u00bfQu\u00e9 extra\u00f1a enfermedad hab\u00eda atacado a todos, absolutamente todos mis contactos? \u00bfSer\u00eda alg\u00fan tipo de virus? \u00bfO me estar\u00eda fallando la vista? Todo lo que ve\u00eda eran caras pintadas: rojo, amarillo, azul, verde, blanco, morado incluso. \u201c\u00bfSer\u00e1 la nueva moda de este verano, o se habr\u00e1 vuelto el mundo loco y yo sin enterarme? Quiz\u00e1 en mi perfil descubra algo.\u201d Y justo en ese momento comenz\u00f3 mi pesadilla\u2026 \u00a1Ten\u00eda mi muro inundado de himnos, sonidos de vuvucelas y hasta Manolo el del bombo! \u00a1Comenz\u00f3 el mundial, y yo hab\u00eda tenido la suerte de llegar a \u00e9l sin enterarme!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TcrJTdoWRqQ\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TcrJTdoWRqQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A partir de ese instante se acab\u00f3 el disfrutar tranquilamente de un buen vino con su tapa en cualquier bar, ya que en cualquier momento puede caerte una copa encima cuando el camarero y los clientes celebran un gol; eso si no te mueres del susto, o de la risa, al verlo aparecer a tomar nota con toda la cara pintada; o coger el transporte p\u00fablico y simplemente mirar por la ventanilla mientras llegas a tu destino, ya que si los jugadores fallan el penalti, y el conductor se pasa de largo tu parada por el enfado, \u00a0\u00a1cualquiera se atreve a avisar!. Se terminaron durante semanas el caf\u00e9 de sobremesa en compa\u00f1\u00eda de los amigos, comentando inquietudes y quehaceres de la vida: solo importa lo vendido que es el \u00e1rbitro, y lo poco que se ganan el sueldo los del equipo.<\/p>\n<p>Definitivamente, el mundo se detiene, se olvida de la crisis, del paro, e incluso del jefe. Y cada segundo que pasa, y se acerca la hora del siguiente partido, siento como corre un sudor fr\u00edo por mi espalda, y me aferro a mi desgajado manual de \u201cComo sobrevivir a un mundial\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"La Madre del Topo - La Roja VIDEOCLIP OFICIAL\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i5euGj4Mm-Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I had been feeling restless for the last few days. I had a feeling that something was about to happen but, somehow, I couldn\u2019t find the reason. Maybe it would be something good? Or a bad omen, perhaps? It was hard to tell.<\/p>\n<p>Then, one afternoon, I went out to do some shopping. I was first shocked to see the streets almost empty. \u2018Maybe it\u2019s the time of the day, too early for this heat\u2019, I thought. When I got to the shop, I was greeted by a grumpy, sad-looking owner, so I finished my shopping as quickly as I could. Back to the streets, and I noticed that there were barely any cars around. Only a weird, yet also familiar faint background noise that sounded like a radio broadcast, so I didn\u2019t pay attention to it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I put the groceries away, turned my computer on, and I decided to spend some time on Facebook, chatting to my friends. What was that strange illness that had struck every single one of my contacts? Could it be some kind of virus? Perhaps my vision had been affected by something? All I could see were painted faces: red, yellow, blue, green, white, even purple. \u2018Is it the latest fashion this summer, or did everybody go crazy and I didn\u2019t even notice? Maybe I\u2019ll find the answer on my wall.\u2019 And it was at that point when the nightmare began\u2026 My wall was flooded with chants, vuvuzela noise, and even Manolo the Base Drummer! The World Cup had started, and I had been lucky enough not to find out before!<\/p>\n<p>From that moment on, I could say goodbye to enjoying a good glass of wine and a tapa in peace at any bar. At any time, a drink could be tipped over you when the bartender and the patrons are celebrating a goal; that\u2019s if you\u2019re lucky and you don\u2019t die laughing, or from the impression, when the bartender pops up to take your order sporting a fully painted face. When taking public transport, you can\u2019t just sit back and relax while looking out of the window. If a penalty is missed, and the driver gets too angry, you wouldn\u2019t dare complain that he missed your stop! For the next few weeks, I can forget about having a cup of coffee with friends after lunch, talking about your life and tribulations. The only thing that matters is how unfair the referee was, and how little our players deserve their exorbitant paychecks.<\/p>\n<p>Without question, the entire world grinds to a halt, everybody forgets about the crisis, about unemployment, even about the boss.
