This year the world lost one of the greatest singers and composers: Mercedes Sosa.<\/p>\n
Sosa was born in Tucum\u00e1n, Argentina, in 1935 and at 15 won a radio singing competition and recorded her first album, La Voz de la Zafra<\/em>.<\/p>\n She was known as \u201cthe voice of the voiceless ones\u201d and recorded 40 albums. Sosa performed in big and important venues such as The Vatican, Carnegie Hall, Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Mogador, The Coliseum and Lincoln Center.<\/p>\n One of Sosa\u2019s greatest and best known songs is Violeta Parra\u2019s Gracias a la Vida.
