The first use shows the end of an action or habit.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Dej\u00e9 de<\/strong> fumar el a\u00f1o pasado.<\/em><br \/>\nI stopped smoking last year.<\/p>\n<p><em>He <strong>dejado de<\/strong> asistir a clase por falta de tiempo.<\/em><br \/>\nI stopped going to class for lack of time \/ because I didn&#8217;t have the time.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also used in the imperative form:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a1Ni\u00f1o, <strong>deja de<\/strong> jugar con esa pelota!<\/em><br \/>\nBoy, stop playing with that ball!<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a1Por favor, <strong>deja de<\/strong> molestarme!<\/em><br \/>\nPlease, stop bothering me!<\/p>\n<p>When used in the negative form, it shows:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A repeated habit<\/p>\n<p><em>No he <strong>dejado de<\/strong> venir un solo d\u00eda.<\/em><br \/>\nI haven&#8217;t stopped coming one day. (I came here every single day.)<\/p>\n<p><em>No he <strong>dejado de<\/strong> practicar un d\u00eda.<\/em><br \/>\nI haven&#8217;t stopped practicing one day. (I practiced every single day.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An ongoing action<\/p>\n<p><em>No <strong>deja de<\/strong> repetir lo mismo.<\/em><br \/>\nHe keeps repeating the same thing.
