As you may be aware of, irregular verbs are the ones that have some kind of alteration in their radical or endings. Let’s take a look at some of these changes in Spanish verbs that have to do with sound (eufon\u00eda<\/em> = good sound).<\/p>\n

Such changes are not exactly irregularities because verbs keep the same sound but add or change a letter. These changes occur mainly in the Presente de Indicativo<\/strong> and Presente de Subjuntivo<\/strong> forms.<\/p>\n

Ending<\/strong>: -car
\nSpelling change<\/strong>: C for QU
\nBefore<\/strong>: E
\nExample<\/strong>: pec<\/span><\/strong>ar – pequ<\/strong><\/span>\u00e9, pequ<\/span><\/strong>e; abarc<\/span><\/strong>ar – abarqu<\/span><\/strong>\u00e9, abarqu<\/span><\/strong>e; buscar – busqu<\/strong><\/span>\u00e9, busqu<\/strong><\/span>e<\/p>\n

As you can see, the sound doesn’t change, only the spelling. So when reading a text, pay attention to how these irregular forms are used.<\/p>\n
