Hi, everybody!<\/p>\n

Today is July 31st so let’s welcome August with a very interesting short story, it’s called La Bobina Maravillosa<\/strong> (The Wonderful Reel). It talks about how we want things to happen fast in our lives and also how we may miss out on great things by not paying attention to details. Some words and expressions are translated, ok?<\/p>\n

\u00c9rase<\/strong> [once upon a time] un principito que no quer\u00eda estudiar. Cierta noche, le rega\u00f1aron<\/strong> [he was reprimanded] por su pereza<\/strong> [laziness], y exclam\u00f3 tristemente:<\/p>\n

– \u00a1Ay! \u00bfCu\u00e1ndo ser\u00e9 mayor para hacer lo que me apetezca?<\/p>\n

Y he aqu\u00ed que, a la ma\u00f1ana siguiente, vio sobre su cama una bobina de hilo<\/strong> [thread reel] de oro de la que sali\u00f3 una d\u00e9bil voz:<\/p>\n

– Ten cuidado conmigo, pr\u00edncipe. Este hilo representa la sucesi\u00f3n de tus d\u00edas. Cada d\u00eda que pasa, el hilo se ir\u00e1 soltando. Ya s\u00e9 que deseas crecer pronto<\/strong> [soon]… Pues, bien, t\u00fa puedes soltar<\/strong> [to let go] el hilo como quieras, pero lo que desenrolles no podr\u00e1s enrollarlo de nuevo, pues los d\u00edas pasados no vuelven.<\/p>\n

El pr\u00edncipe, para estar seguro, tir\u00f3<\/strong> [pulled] con fuerza del hilo y se encontr\u00f3 convertido en un apuesto<\/strong> [handsome] pr\u00edncipe. Tir\u00f3 un poco m\u00e1s y se vio llevando la corona de su padre. \u00a1Era rey! Con un nuevo tironcito<\/strong> [a little pull], pregunt\u00f3:<\/p>\n

– Dime, bobina: \u00bfc\u00f3mo ser\u00e1n mi esposa y mis hijos?<\/p>\n

En el mismo instante, una bell\u00edsima joven, y cuatro ni\u00f1os rubios<\/strong> [blond kids] aparecieron a su lado. Sin pararse a pensar, cada vez m\u00e1s curioso, el pr\u00edncipe solt\u00f3 m\u00e1s hilo para saber como ser\u00edan sus hijos de mayores<\/strong> [as adults].<\/p>\n

De pronto<\/strong> [suddenly] se mir\u00f3 al espejo y vio la imagen de un anciano decr\u00e9pito, de escasos cabellos nevados<\/strong> [gray hair]. Se asusto de s\u00ed mismo y del poco hilo que quedaba en la bobina. \u00a1Los instantes de su vida estaban contados! Intent\u00f3 enrollar el hilo en la bobina, pero no lo consigui\u00f3. Entonces la d\u00e9bil vocecilla que ya conoc\u00eda, habl\u00f3 as\u00ed:<\/p>\n

– Ahora ya sabes que los d\u00edas perdidos no pueden recuperarse. Has sido un perezoso al pretender<\/strong> [to intend] vivir sin hacer el trabajo de todos los d\u00edas. Sufre, pues, tu castigo.<\/p>\n

El rey dio un grito de p\u00e1nico y cay\u00f3 muerto.<\/p>\n
