Today is Friday and let’s learn two very useful expressions in spoken Spanish: \u00a1M\u00e1s te vale!<\/strong> and \u00a1Que te conste!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a1M\u00e1s te vale!<\/strong> means something like “You’d better do that!”, like in a threat. Here are some examples:<\/p>\n

A: Pedrito, \u00a1ve a arreglar tu habitaci\u00f3n! [Pedrito, go clean up your room!]<\/em>
\nB: (whispering) Voy si quiero… [I will do it if I want to…]<\/em>
\nB: \u00bfQu\u00e9 has dicho? [What did you just say?]<\/em>
\nA: Nada, mamy. [Nothing, mom.]<\/em>
\nB: M\u00e1s te vale. [You’d better.]<\/em><\/p>\n

A: Voy por ti a las cuatro, \u00bfvale? [I’ll pick you up at four, all right?]<\/em>
\nB: M\u00e1s te vale. Si te retrasas no s\u00e9 qu\u00e9 hago contigo. [You’d better. If you’re late, I don’t know what I’ll do with you.]<\/em><\/p>\n

A: Tengo mucho dolor en el est\u00f3mago. [My stomach hurts so much.]<\/em>
\nB: M\u00e1s te vale ir al doctor. [You’d better go to the doctor.]<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a1Que te conste!<\/strong> can be translated as “Mark my words!” or “Listen carefully!”.<\/p>\n

\u00a1Que te conste! Jam\u00e1s vuelvo a trabajar en aquella empresa. [Mark my words! I’m never going to work in that company again.]<\/em>
\nQue te conste que \u00e9l me ha enga\u00f1ado toda mi vida. Despu\u00e9s de todo lo que he hecho por \u00e9l. [Listen carefully, he’s cheated on me all my life. After all I’ve done for him.]<\/em><\/p>\n
