{"id":5559,"date":"2012-08-29T08:00:02","date_gmt":"2012-08-29T12:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/?p=5559"},"modified":"2012-08-28T13:40:28","modified_gmt":"2012-08-28T17:40:28","slug":"linking-words-in-spanish-part-02","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/linking-words-in-spanish-part-02\/","title":{"rendered":"Linking words in Spanish &#8211; Part 02"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>\u00a1Hola! \u00bfC\u00f3mo est\u00e1s?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Today let&#8217;s continue with the linking words in Spanish. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/linking-words-in-spanish-part-01\/\"><strong>Click here to read the first part of the post.<\/strong><\/a> Let&#8217;s go for it!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>1. aunque<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Aunque<\/strong> no te guste, tendr\u00e1s que hacerlo. <em>[<strong>Even though<\/strong> you don&#8217;t like it, you will have to do it.]<\/em><br \/>\nSaldr\u00e9 esta noche <strong>aunque<\/strong> llueva. <em>[I will go out tonight <strong>even if<\/strong> it rains.]<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Aunque<\/strong> le he recomendado varias veces, a\u00fan no lo ha hecho. <em>[<strong>Even though<\/strong> I have suggested to him many times, he still hasn&#8217;t done it.]<\/em><br \/>\nNo lo podr\u00e9 creer <strong>aunque<\/strong> lo vea con mis propios ojos. <em>[I won&#8217;t believe it <strong>even if<\/strong> I see it with my own eyes.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We use the present indicative in the clause with <em>aunque<\/em> when the speaker has previous knowledge of the situation mentioned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Aunque<\/strong> me dedico muchas horas al estudio, no consigo hablar espa\u00f1ol perfectamente. <em>[<strong>Even though<\/strong> I dedicate many hours to studying, I can&#8217;t speak Spanish perfectly.]<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Aunque<\/strong> llueve mucho aqu\u00ed, es un lugar muy agradable para m\u00ed. <em>[<strong>Even though<\/strong> it rains a lot here, it&#8217;s a very pleasant place for me.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We use the subjunctive when we don&#8217;t have previous knowledge of the situation mentioned or maybe you&#8217;re not interested in showing or admitting this lack of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Aunque<\/strong> me dedique muchas horas al estudio, no consiguir\u00e9 hablar espa\u00f1ol perfectamente. <em>[<strong>Even if<\/strong> I dedicate many hours to studying, I won&#8217;t be able to speak Spanish perfectly.]<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Aunque<\/strong> me encante el contacto con el agua, no consigo nadar. <em>[<strong>Even though<\/strong> I love the contact with water, I can&#8217;t swim.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2. sin embargo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Sin embargo<\/strong> (however) has to come between commas or between semi-colon and comma, when it is being used in the middle of a sentence. When it comes at the end of a sentence it means &#8220;though&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">No se soportan,<strong> sin embargo<\/strong>, mantienen las apariencias en las reuniones sociales. <em>[They can&#8217; stand each other; <strong>however<\/strong>, they keep up appearances in social gatherings.]<\/em><br \/>\nTen\u00eda muchos motivos para renunciar al cargo; <strong>sin embargo<\/strong>, no lo hizo. <em>[He had many reasons to turn down the position; <strong>however<\/strong>, he didn&#8217;t do it.]<\/em><br \/>\nNo tiene ganas; tiene constancia, <strong>sin embargo<\/strong>. <em>[He doesn&#8217;t have stamina; he has constancy, <strong>however<\/strong>.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>3.
