It is big city, with a lot of different things to do. Being myself a tourist in my free time, I couldn’t help visiting some of its most important monuments and places. I have walked in the Retiro, visited the Prado museum, and obviously, (I love photography), I have taken thousands of pictures. Reviewing some of them, I remembered an article I read about Cibeles, one of the most famous statues in Madrid, surrounded by four magnificent buildings: The Bank of Spain, the Palacio de Buenavista, the Palacio de Linares and the Palacio de cibeles or Correos building.

I´m sure you all know that Cibeles was the goddess of fertility and earth. And that this fountain is the place where Real Madrid celebrates its victories. But maybe you didn’t know that it was also used by Atlético de Madrid fans with the same purpose, till they decided to move to Neptune’s fountain to avoid contact with the “merengue” (usual way to refer to Real Madrid players and fans) celebrations

But something much more interesting is the rumour that it is connected with Banco de España security system. It is said that if the bank alarms went off, its basement and the vault would be flood with Cibeles water.

If you can’t go to Madrid, but you visit México, you will find an exact replica, donated by the Spanish community in Mexico, as a twinning present between both cities.

Últimamente he pasado algún tiempo en Madrid.
