This week we could see the last episode of a TV series that has achieved a great success in \u201cLa Primera\u201d, our national TV: \u201cIsabel\u201d. Starring Michelle Jenner and Rodolfo Sancho, it is based on the life of the queen Isabel of Castile, married to Fernando II of Aragon.<\/p>\n
As we can imagine, medieval times were not easy: wars to gain the succession to the throne were something common, and our peninsula was a mixing of different kingdoms. Some historians consider that their marriage was the starting point for the unification of what we know as Spain now.<\/p>\n
Anyway, \u00a0I\u00b4m not going to give you a history lesson about our Catholic Monarchs, but to explain one of our sayings which was the monarch\u00b4s motto: \u201cTanto monta, monta tanto (Isabel como Fernando). We can find it in a lot of places,; if you ever go to San Juan de los Reyes monastery in Toledo don\u00b4t forget to look at the roof for it.<\/p>\n
Although it was originally a reference to the Gordian Knot and a legend regarding Alexander the Great and it\u00b4s method to solve problems, (reason why Fernando II chose it as his personal motto), the popular voice included that second part \u201cIsabel como Fernando\u201d, meaning that both monarchs ruled in equality. Nowadays, we use this expression to convey the idea not only that two people have the same power of decision, but also that it doesn\u00b4t matter for the results \u00a0who decides or what happens first.<\/p>\n
And going back to the TV series, it has been announced that there will be a second season, so I\u00b4m eager to see Boabdil and Granada in it! I\u00b4ll keep you posted if I know when they will be recording in my city\u2026<\/p>\n

Hoy d\u00eda usamos esta expresi\u00f3n no solo implicando que dos personas tienen el mismo poder de decisi\u00f3n, sino tambi\u00e9n que no afecta al resultado qui\u00e9n decide, o qu\u00e9 ocurre primero<\/p>\n Y volviendo a la serie de televisi\u00f3n, se ha anunciado que habr\u00e1 segunda temporada, as\u00ed que \u00a1estoy ansiosa de ver a Boabdil y Granada en ella!
