Today I am going to teach you some idioms, those expressions that always give us a hard time due to the fact that they don&#8217;t usually mean what their independent parts mean.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>01. Quien quita.<\/strong> = Quien sabe, quiz\u00e1. Who knows! God knows! Tal vez.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>02. Quitar de la cabeza<\/strong> = to get something off your mind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Si crees que vas a salir esta noche sin mi permiso, qu\u00edtatelo de la cabeza. <em>[If you think you&#8217;re going out tonight without my permission, get that off your mind.]<\/em><br \/>\nNo se me quita de la cabeza lo mal que se port\u00f3 con nosotros. <em>[I can&#8217;t stop thinking how badly she treated us.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>03. Quitarse de delante \/ de encima<\/strong> = to get rid of something \/ someone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se quit\u00f3 de delante a los que protestaban. <em>[She got rid of those who were protesting.]<\/em><br \/>\nNo s\u00e9 c\u00f3mo quitarme de encima este trabalho.<em> [I just can&#8217;t get rid of this job.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>04. Quitarse de en medio<\/strong> = to get out of the way; to commit suicide<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se quit\u00f3 de en medio para no interrumpir nuestra conversaci\u00f3n.<em> [She got out of the way so as to not interrupt our conversation.]<\/em><br \/>\nSe quit\u00f3 de en medio abri\u00e9ndose las venas. <em>[She killed herself by slitting her wrists.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>05. Sin quitar ni poner<\/strong> = exactly as it was told<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Estas fueron sus palabras, sin quitar ni poner. <em>[Those were her words, exactly as they were said.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>06. Quitar el hipo<\/strong> = to take someone&#8217;s breath away; to blow someone&#8217;s mind<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Este chico quita el hipo. <em>[This kid takes my breath away.]<\/em><br \/>\nPedro se ha comprado un coche que se quita el hipo. <em>[Pedro bought a car that blows your mind.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>07. Quitar la careta\/m\u00e1scara<\/strong> = to unmask yourself, to show your true colors<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le hemos quitado la careta y ha confesado que quer\u00eda quedarse con todas nuestras acciones. <em>[We blew her cover and she confessed that she wanted to take all our shares.]<\/em><br \/>\nElla se quit\u00f3 la m\u00e1scara cuando dijo que se casaba por dinero. <em>[She showed her true colors when she said she was getting married for money.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>08. Quitar un peso de encima<\/strong> = to lift a weight off one&#8217;s shoulders<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cuando resolvi\u00f3 el problema, Ana se quit\u00f3 un peso de encima.<em> [When she solved the problem, Ana lifted a weight off her shoulders.]<\/em><br \/>\nCuando vimos entrar a los ni\u00f1os se nos quit\u00f3 un peso de encima.<em> [When we saw the kids come in, it lifted a weight off our shoulders.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Have a great week!
