I&#8217;m pretty sure you&#8217;d go places, buy stuff and things like that, but my question here is to introduce a verb tense called <strong>Pret\u00e9rito Imperfecto de Subjuntivo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Damn, Adir, what on earth is that? Well, answer I, just take a look at some sentences in English:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">If I had more money, I&#8217;d buy lots of things. [1]<br \/>\nIf I were you, I wouldn&#8217;t do that. [2]<br \/>\nI wanted you to do that for me, but you just didn&#8217;t. [3]<br \/>\nI&#8217;d like you to arrive a little earlier next time. [4]<br \/>\nShe called him so that\/to pick her up. [5]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">So, the <strong>Pret\u00e9rito Imperfecto de Subjuntivo<\/strong> is used in conditional sentences in the past [1, 2], with &#8220;want&#8221; verbs showing a past or conditional wish [3,4] or a &#8220;purpose&#8221; sentence in the past.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Before translating the sentences above, let&#8217;s learn how to form the <strong>Pret\u00e9rito Imperfecto de Subjuntivo<\/strong>. There are two forms, but the first one is more used in spoken Spanish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>First conjugation &#8211; Verbs ending in -ar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Amar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">(si) yo am<strong>ara<\/strong> \/ am<strong>ase<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) t\u00fa am<strong>aras<\/strong> \/ am<strong>ases<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) \u00e9l am<strong>ara<\/strong> \/ am<strong>ase<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) nosotros am<strong>\u00e1ramos<\/strong> \/ am<strong>\u00e1semos<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) vosotros am<strong>arais<\/strong> \/ am<strong>aseis<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) ellos am<strong>aran<\/strong> \/ am<strong>asen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These verbs follow the same conjugation: <em>llamar, estudiar, cantar, firmar, publicar, llorar, hablar, comprar, confiar, trabajar, fechar, callar, disfrutar, alquilar<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Second conjugation &#8211; Verbs ending in -er<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Vender<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">(si) yo vend<strong>iera<\/strong> \/ vend<strong>iese<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) t\u00fa vend<strong>ieras<\/strong> \/ vend<strong>ieses<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) \u00e9l vend<strong>iera<\/strong> \/ vend<strong>iese<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) nosotros vend<strong>i\u00e9ramos<\/strong> \/ vend<strong>i\u00e9semos<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) vosotros vend<strong>ierais<\/strong> \/ vend<strong>ieseis<\/strong><br \/>\n(si) ellos vend<strong>ieran<\/strong> \/ vend<strong>iesen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These verbs follow the same conjugation: <em>comer, deber, correr, beber, barrer, temer, ver, aprender, comprender, perder, coger, ofrecer, nacer, entender, morder, volver, parecer, encender<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Third conjugation &#8211; Verbs ending in -ir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Partir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">(si) yo part<em>iera<\/em> \/ part<em>iese<\/em><br \/>\n(si) t\u00fa part<em>ieras<\/em> \/ part<em>ieses<\/em><br \/>\n(si) \u00e9l par<em>tiera<\/em> \/ part<em>iese<\/em><br \/>\n(si) nosotros part<em>i\u00e9ramos<\/em> \/ part<em>i\u00e9semos<\/em><br \/>\n(si) vosotros part<em>ierais<\/em> \/ part<em>ieseis<\/em><br \/>\n(si) ellos part<em>ieran<\/em> \/ part<em>ieses<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These verbs follow the same conjugation:<em> vivir, abrir, escribir, fingir, reunir, a\u00f1adir, recibir, sufrir, prohibir, dividir, existir, resumir, discutir, repartir<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">So basically this is how regular verbs are conjugated.
