To the Mediterranean Sea! Not only for holidays, but also to spend the weekend or just the day, as in my case. It is so big the influence of this sea in our culture, that there are a lot of references about it in poems and songs.

Our Mediterranean sea is almost surrounded by land, and it is connected with the Atlantic Ocean in Gibraltar. Its name comes from Latin, and it means “in land” or “in the middle of the land”. It has been an important route for trade and cultural exchange from ancient times to the present day, as well as a place of enjoyment and relax.

I’m pretty sure that the most famous song devoted to it is the one by Joan Manuel Serrat, but when I’m thinking about summer, beach and sunbathing, I can’t help singing to myself the lively rock song “Mediterraneo”, by the Rebeldes, which was summer hit in 1988.

So let’s practice our listening skills with this catchy song. I was going to give you some vocabulary, but I have found a very funny and interesting video that explains every single sentence with pictures.
