First, let´s practice how to make some regular gerunds (gerundios). I will say some verbs in infinitive and I would like you to change them to gerundios: (For example: Hablar – hablando)

Escribir
Comer
Aprender
Bailar
Subir
Trabajar
Llamar
Perder
Estudiar
Ver

2. Let´s practice now making some irregular gerundios:

Decir
Dormir
Leer
Reir
Traer
Ir
Mentir
Oir
Seguir
Construir

3. Next, let´s make some full sentences in Spanish using El Presente Continuo. Can you translate these sentences from English to Spanish?

I am watching TV.
My sister is studying.
Are you working here? (one person / friendly)
My parents are listening to music.

4. Now I will say a few sentences about the weather in Spanish. Let´s see if you understand them:

Está nevando
Está lloviendo
Está haciendo buen tiempo
Está haciendo mal tiempo

5. How do you ask someone how the weather is in their country at the moment?

6. Now, let´s conjugate some Spanish reflexive verbs using El Presente Continuo. I will say a verb and a person (yo, tú, vosotros, usted etc…) and I would like you to try to conjugate the verb correctly: (For example: Yo / ducharse– Me estoy duchando):

Nosotros / despertarse
Yo / irse
Tú / peinarse
Ustedes / mirarse
Usted / lavarse
Vosotros / dormirse
Ella / levantarse
Ellos / sentarse

7. Finally, let’s practice how to describe two actions occurring at the same time with the Spanish Present Continuous. Please, translate the following from English to Spanish:

I study listening to music.
Ana does her homework watching TV.
We clean the house singing.
My husband runs listening to punk music.

Pues esto es todo por la clase de hoy.

One important thing you need to know is that in Spanish we don´t use El Presente Continuo to talk about the future, only for things they are happening in this moment. For example, in English you can say “I am working tomorrow”, but in Spanish you cannot say “Estoy trabajando mañana”. As you are talking about the future you would have to say “Voy a trabajar mañana”.

Nos vemos pronto con más prácticas de español.

¡Adiós!

I hope you are enjoying my weekly interactive Spanish lessons.
