In some previous posts, we have talked about \u201cdequeismo\u201d (to know more, click <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/dequeismo\/\">here<\/a>) and \u201cla\u00edsmo\u201d (to know more, click <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/problems-using-la-le-lo-laismo-leismo-loismo\/\">here<\/a>), for example. Today, I want to share with you some linguistic mistakes, or vulgarisms:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>As\u00ed<\/strong> (this way): Things are this way.<br \/>\nCorrect: Las cosas funcionan <em>asi<\/em>.<br \/>\nIncorrect: Las cosas funcionan <em>ans\u00ed<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>D\u00f3nde<\/strong> (where): Where are you?<br \/>\nCorrect: \u00bf<em>D\u00f3nde<\/em> andas?<br \/>\nIncorrect: \u00bf<em>Ande<\/em> andas?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Gratis<\/strong> (free): The snack is free.<br \/>\nCorrect: La tapa es <em>gratis<\/em>.<br \/>\nIncorrect: La tapa es <em>de gratis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Aceituna<\/strong> (olive): Do you like black olives?<br \/>\nCorrect: \u00bfTe gustan las <em>aceitunas<\/em> negras?<br \/>\nIncorrect: \u00bfTe gustan las <em>acitunas<\/em> negras?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Dentro<\/strong> (in) The cat is in the box.<br \/>\nCorrect: El gato est\u00e1 <em>dentro<\/em> de la caja.<br \/>\nIncorrect: El gato est\u00e1 <em>adentro<\/em> de la caja.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The verb to have is usually problematic for native speakers, so we can find haiga instead of haya, habemos when the correct form is hemos, or hubieron where we have to use hubo. However, it is quite interesting to know that some words that we usually associate with vulgarisms can have an acceptable meaning too: haiga, for example, is wrongly used as a verbal form, but it is the right word for a big, posh car.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another example is <em>murci\u00e9galo<\/em>, now considered as a misspelling of <em>murci\u00e9lago<\/em>, was the original word coming from mur (rat\u00f3n-mouse) and caeculus (ciego-blind). And talking about bats, let me finish this post with a joke:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHay tres murci\u00e9lagos colgados en un \u00e1rbol, dos cabeza abajo y uno cabeza arriba. Los dos colgados hac\u00eda abajo hablan entre ellos:<br \/>\n-\u00bfOye, que le pasar\u00e1 a este?<br \/>\n&#8211; No s\u00e9 &#8211; responde el otro- se habr\u00e1 desmayado&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(\u201cThere are three bats hanging on a tree, two of them are upside down, and one is right side up.
