There are thousands of expressions with prepositions in Spanish and I chose some very interesting ones to share with you today, with preposition “en”.<\/p>\n

Enjoy!<\/p>\n

1. En ayunas<\/strong> \u2013 1. fasting. 2. clueless, not knowing what’s happening<\/p>\n

Tengo que hacerme los an\u00e1lisis de sangre en ayunas<\/strong>.
\nI have to go run those blood tests in a fasting state<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Estaba en ayunas<\/strong> de lo que pasaba en mi propia casa.
\nI was clueless<\/strong> to what was happening in my own house.<\/em><\/p>\n

2. En el bote<\/strong> \u2013 “in the bag”, certain to happen<\/p>\n

La cita fue muy bien ayer, y creo que a este chico lo tengo en el bote<\/strong>.
\nThe date went great yesterday, and I think I’ve got this guy in the bag.<\/em><\/p>\n

La posici\u00f3n la tengo en el bote<\/strong>, pues la entrevista me la llev\u00e9.
\nI’ve certainly got the position in the bag<\/strong> because I nailed that interview.<\/em><\/p>\n

3. En la punta de la lengua<\/strong> \u2013 on the tip of your tongue<\/p>\n

Ahora mismo no recuerdo el nombre de la actriz, pero lo tengo en la punta de la lengua<\/strong>.
\nRight now I can’t remember the actress’s name, but I have it on the tip of my tongue<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

El apellido de Carmen lo tengo en la punta de la lengua<\/strong>.
\nCarmen’s last name is on the tip of my tongue<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

4. En pelotas<\/strong> \u2013 naked, in the buff<\/p>\n

No ten\u00edamos ropa de ba\u00f1o, as\u00ed que nos metimos en el mar en pelotas<\/strong>.
\nWe didn’t have bathing suits so we went swimming naked<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Cuando llegu\u00e9 los encontr\u00e9 en pelotas<\/strong> y no supe qu\u00e9 hacer.
\nWhen I arrived I walked in on them in the buff<\/strong> and I didn’t know what to do.<\/em><\/p>\n

5. En un santiam\u00e9n<\/strong> \u2013 in a heartbeat, very quickly<\/p>\n

Como s\u00e9 que tienes mucha hambre, te voy a hacer la cena en un santiam\u00e9n<\/strong>.
\nAs I know you’re very hungry, I’m going to make you dinner in a heartbeat<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

En un santiam\u00e9n<\/strong> me hicieron el pasaporte.
\nThey had my passport done in a heartbeat<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

6. En vilo<\/strong> \u2013 up in the air, on tenterhooks; wondering about someone<\/p>\n

Mi trabajo est\u00e1 en vilo<\/strong>, porque dicen que va a cerrar la empresa.
\nMy job is up in the air<\/strong> because they say the company’s going to close down.<\/em><\/p>\n

Me has tenido en vilo<\/strong> todo el d\u00eda, sin saber nada de ti.
\nYou kept me wondering about you<\/strong> all day, you just went MIA.<\/em><\/p>\n
