First, I will say some sentences in Spanish. I will say each sentence in two different ways – one using El Presente de Indicativo and one using El Presente de Subjuntivo – but only one will be correct. I would like you to tell me which sentence is the correct one:

Pienso que hace mucho calor / Pienso que haga mucho calor
Me parece que tienes razón / Me parece que tengas razón
Para mí Madrid es una ciudad muy buena para vivir / Para mí Madrid sea una ciudad muy buena para vivir
No creo que Ana va a venir / No creo que Ana vaya a venir
No pienso que es tarde / No pienso que sea tarde

2. Now, please give your opinion about the following statements using “Creo que” or “No creo que”. For example, if I say “Hace calor” if you agree with the sentence you should say “Creo que hace calor” and if not you should say “No creo que haga calor”:

Madonna es la mejor cantante del mundo.
Hablar español es muy divertido.
Hoy hace mucho frío.
El chino es el idioma más difícil.
Nueva York es una ciudad muy interesante.
Es bueno para los niños ver la televisión.

3. Let´s practice now the structure “Me parece + adverb/adjective + que” when giving your opinion about the following statements. For example, if I say “Esta camiseta cuesta 200 dólares” you could say “Me parece increíble que esta camiseta cueste 200 dólares”. Other options you can use are “Me parece repugnante”, “Me parece horrible”, “Me parece fantástico”, “Me parece muy triste”,..:

Muchos españoles no tienen trabajo.
Sonia y Paco se van a divorciar.
Ana y Alfredo se van a casar.
He aprobado el examen.
Mi amigo Pedro se ha enfadado conmigo y no me habla.
Hay muchos accidentes de coche en verano.

4. Finally, let´s practice how to confirm that something is obvious to us using the expressions in the original theory video lesson. For example, if I say “Fumar es perjudicial para la salud”, you could say “Es evidente que fumar es malo para la salud”:

Es muy difícil encontrar trabajo ahora en España.
Tenemos que practicar mucho si queremos hablar español bien.
Si llueve mucho, hay que salir con paraguas.
Beber mucho café no es bueno para la salud.

Esto es todo por hoy.

I hope you are clearer now on how to use the Spanish Subjunctive with opinion. It is important not to wonder why some formulas need or do not need the use of the subjunctive. There is simply no set of concrete rules to follow. My advice is to practice as much as you can. Eventually you will memorize the correct way to construct the sentences and it will come as second nature when and when not to use the Spanish subjunctive.

Que tengais un buen día y hasta pronto!!!

I hope you are enjoying my weekly interactive Spanish lessons.
