In this post I will try to give you a short overlook about Swedish\u00a0sweets (svenskt godis).\u00a0Swedish\u00a0sweets and candy\u00a0is a part of the Swedish holidays, Fridays (just think about fredagsmys) and also the coffee breaks (fikapauser)\u00a0on Fridays at the most work places..ah okay this one is maybe an exaggeration because then you usually have a bigger sugar-load&#8230;big, fat cakes.<\/p>\n<p>Things you shouldn\u00b4t leave on a shelf when buying Swedish\u00a0sweets and candy;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ballerina (It is\u00a0the biggest and most popular product of the Gothenburg-based company G\u00f6teborgs kex since 1963).\u00a0It\u00b4s filled with bland nougat flavor.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Sweet or Salt liquorice (lakrits) which is made of the root of the plant called liquorice.<\/li>\n<li>Marabou chocolate with 13 different types\u00a0from the Swedish town Sundbyberg, just outside of Solna in Stockholm county. It is one of the most popular chocolates in the Nordic countries since 1919.<\/li>\n<li>Alhgrens bilar (&#8220;Sweden\u00b4s most popular car&#8221;. The company was established by Fredrik Ahlgren\u00a0 in G\u00e4vle 1885.\u00a0His company was\u00a0originally selling perfumes but later on they were the one\u00a0that introduced the so called L\u00e4kerol-tablets for better breath. You can\u00a0find these tablets\u00a0since 1908).<\/li>\n<li>Polkagris is a stick candy with peppermint taste<\/li>\n<li>Plopp (Plopp is a chocolate bar\u00a0filled with toffee-chocolate cream by the famous Cloetta company. You can also find it in current, latte and tutti-frutti).<\/li>\n<li>Gel\u00e9hallon (Gumdrops in a shape and taste\u00a0of raspberry, covered with white sugar).<\/li>\n<li>Alladin chokladask\u00a0\u00a0(Pralines of different taste; dark-, white- and milk chocolate. The sortiment of Alladin used to change each year, but after many complaints from customers the company decided that they would stick to only the most popular pralines like: Gr\u00e4ddnougat-cream nougat, Trillingn\u00f6t- Three hazelnuts covered in chocolate, Apelsintryffel-Orange truffles).<\/li>\n<li>ZOO-tabletter (Jelly with different fruit tastes in animal shapes),<\/li>\n<li>Kexchoklad (The Cloetta company sells approx. 30 million chocolate bars in Sweden per year.
