Proper Swedish: Byxor<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dega = relax, do nothing.<\/strong> Derives from the Swedish word for dough, deg. To &#8220;dough&#8221; around doing nothing. Proper Swedish: Slappa<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frulle = breakfast. <\/strong>Proper Swedish: Frukost<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grina = to cry.<\/strong> Proper Swedish: Gr\u00e5ta<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knega = to work.<\/strong> Proper Swedish: Jobba\/Arbeta<\/p>\n<p><strong>K\u00e4ka = to eat<\/strong>. Proper Swedish: \u00c4ta<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lullig = tipsy.<\/strong> Proper Swedish: Berusad<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nana = to sleep.<\/strong> A word mostly used when talking to kids. Proper Swedish: Sova<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c4r du p\u00e5? = Are you up for it?<\/strong> Direct translation: Are you on?<br \/>\nExample: A: Vi ska g\u00e5 ut ikv\u00e4ll, \u00e4r du p\u00e5? (We&#8217;re going out tonight, are you up for it?)<br \/>\nB: Nej, jag \u00e4r inte p\u00e5. (No, I&#8217;m not up for it)<\/p>\n<p>As David correctly pointed out, slang are very much a regional thing and some of the words might just be used in certain parts of Sweden. But we&#8217;ve tried to mix it up and please feel free to share your own slang words or protest loud and clear if you need any further explanation.
