Spending August on the west coast of Sweden is a pure joy if you like to eat what the nature have to offer. The ground is covered with blueberries and lingonberries, the forest is packed with mushrooms of various kinds and the sea and lakes offers plenty of goodness if you are into fishing. This is the result of yesterday’s treasure hunt:<\/p>\n

Krabbor (crabs) We got 22 big beasts in our fishing net, cooked straight after and eaten within hours. Yummy, although they look rather unappetising, I must admit.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Insj\u00f6kr\u00e4ftor<\/strong> (crayfish from a lake). This little fellas live in lakes, rivers and streams and if you have permit, you can fish them all year around but the best time is definitely in August.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Kantareller<\/strong> (chanterelles) and various soppar<\/strong> (seps) – best eaten\u00a0fried with butter and served on a toast!<\/p>\n

Finally, after all this hard work, you definitely have deserved a big traditional kr\u00e4ftskiva<\/strong> (crayfish party) – August is prime time for these great events!<\/p>\n
