Since most Swedes speak more-or-less perfect English, it is relatively easy for them to understand films in English. As a result, almost no films are dubbed in Swedish. Instead, Swedes prefer subtitles and often mock the few dubs that have been produced, such as the Swedish dub of <em>Harry Potter och de vises sten<\/em> &#8211; <em>Harry Potter and the Sorcerer&#8217;s (Philosopher&#8217;s) Stone<\/em>. (Hermione is known for having a very snobby Stockholm accent. Not that all Stockholm accents are snobby &#8211; just hers!) Also, being unaccustomed to dubs, most Swedes think dubbing makes films feel unnatural.<\/p>\n<p>When you go on your first date with a Swede (or otherwise go to the cinema, an afterwork, a <em>fika<\/em>, a party, etc.) at a fancy restaurant in central Stockholm, you might want to be able to talk about your favorite films. Lucky for you, here are some useful phrases for a movie conversation compiled in a list for you to learn! Your Swedish date will surely be impressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Har du sett <em>Inception<\/em>?<\/strong> &#8211; Have you seen <em>Inception<\/em>? <em>(as an example)<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Jag har inte sett den (\u00e4n)!<\/strong> &#8211; I haven&#8217;t seen it yet!<br \/>\n<strong>Vad handlar den om?<\/strong> &#8211; What is it about?<br \/>\n<strong>Vilket \u00e5r kom den?<\/strong> &#8211; What year did it come out?<br \/>\n<strong>N\u00e4r s\u00e5g du den?<\/strong> &#8211; When did you see it?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Vad tyckte du (om filmen)?<\/strong> &#8211; What did you think (of the film)?<br \/>\n<strong>Skulle du titta p\u00e5 den igen?<\/strong> &#8211; Would you watch it again?<br \/>\n<strong>Jag tyckte den var kul\/tr\u00e5kig\/konstig.<\/strong> &#8211; I thought it was fun\/boring\/weird.<br \/>\n<strong>Har du n\u00e5gon favoritfilm?<\/strong> &#8211; Do you have any favorite film?<br \/>\n<strong>Vilka genrer f\u00f6redrar du?<\/strong> &#8211; Which genres do you prefer?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Jag gillar skr\u00e4ck.<\/strong> &#8211; I like horror.<br \/>\n<strong>Action \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 kul!<\/strong> &#8211; Action is also fun!<br \/>\n<strong>Dramafilmer \u00e4r inget f\u00f6r mig.<\/strong> &#8211; Drama films are not (<em>lit.<\/em> nothing) for me.<br \/>\n<strong>Jag har filmen p\u00e5 dvd\/bluray.<\/strong> &#8211; I have the film on DVD\/bluray.<br \/>\n<strong>Skulle du vilja g\u00e5 p\u00e5 bio med mig n\u00e5gon g\u00e5ng?<\/strong> &#8211; Would you like to go to the movies\/cinema with me sometime?<\/p>\n<p><em>Lycka till p\u00e5 dejten<\/em> &#8211; good luck on your date!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While Sweden does have a fantastic film industry, most of the popular films are blockbusters from Hollywood or equivalent.
