With Carl von Linn\u00e9 creating the taxonomy system in the 1700&#8217;s and the Spotify folks are reaching millions of music streamers across the globe today, innovation is a part of the Swedish narrative. We\u2019ll learn how to discuss inventors and their creations in Swedish and highlight some groundbreaking inventions throughout the years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To invent, <i>att uppfinna<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is the most important verb of the day! It\u2019s forms are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>uppfinner -&gt; uppfann -&gt; har uppfunnit<\/p>\n<p><em>Visste du att svenskar uppfann Soundcloud?\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Did you know that Swedes invented Soundcloud?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next, the <strong>noun<\/strong> for an inventor is <em><strong>en uppfinnare<\/strong><\/em>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Alfred Nobel \u00e4r den mest k\u00e4nda svenska uppfinnaren.\u00a0<\/em><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alfred Nobel is the most famous Swedish inventor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8230;most Swedish students come to learn quite a bit about Nobel, but for those of you who don\u2019t know why Alfred Nobel is such a big deal, in short, he was the scientist who invented dynamite in 1865. This earned him a fortune and to create his legacy, he established the Nobel foundation to award folks who made extraordinary contributions in academic, cultural, and scientific fields, aka, the Nobel Prizes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An invention is <\/span><strong><i>en uppfinning<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>,<\/strong> plural <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">uppfinningar.<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>Tetra Pak \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 en svensk uppfinning.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tetra Pak is also a Swedish invention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A few more examples of classic <em>uppfinningar<\/em> throughout the years are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Skiftnyckeln &#8211; the\u00a0 adjustable wrench in 1892,<\/span>\u00a0u<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ppfinnare: Johan Petter Johansson<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Blixtl\u00e5set -the zipper in 1910, uppfinnare: Gideon Sundb\u00e4ck<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Respiratorn &#8211; the respirator in 1950,\u00a0 uppfinnare: Carl Gunnar Engstr\u00f6m<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pacemakern &#8211; the pace maker in 1958, u<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ppfinnare: Rune Elmqvist<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another helpful <strong>verb<\/strong> in this arena is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>att skapa<\/strong>, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to create.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-&gt; skapar -&gt; skapade -&gt; har skapat<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Appropriately named, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stiftelsenskapa.se\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SKAPA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is an organization that awards grants to Swedes with innovative ideas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another helpful <strong>verb<\/strong> is <strong><em>att grunda<\/em><\/strong>, to found, for example:<\/p>\n<p><em>Ericsson grundades i Sverige \u00e5r 1876.\u00a0<\/em><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ericsson was founded in Sweden in the year 1876.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now, a couple of <strong>adjectives<\/strong>! To be known for something is to be <strong><em>k\u00e4nd f\u00f6r n\u00e5got<\/em><\/strong>. You can also use the adjective <em><strong>ber\u00f6md<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>famous or notable. There are also plenty of apps developed by entrepreneurial Swedes. One such example that is turning heads today is an<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0an app called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/karma.life\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Karma<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sweden.se says:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cVia the app, supermarkets, restaurants and caf\u00e9s can offer products that are about to expire at half price, instead of throwing them away.
