Oddly enough, it was made famous by a marketing campaign for chips. This week on the blog, we\u2019ll pull from a resource called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Det svenska k\u00f6ket<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and dig into the fredagsmys concept. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/si.se\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Svenska institutet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Det Svenska k\u00f6ket fr\u00e5n fika till fredagsmys<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0&#8211; &#8220;The Swedish Kitchen, From Fika till Fredagsmys&#8221; is a 50-page publication and introduction to Swedish food. It is broken down into 8 eight categories, with a quick introduction and recipes to highlight each concept. The chapters include:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1. <a title=\"The Ultimate Swedish Fika Post\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/swedish\/the-ultimate-swedish-fika-post\/\"><em>Fika<\/em><\/a> (coffee break)\u00a0 2. <em>Vardagsmiddag<\/em>, weekday dinners 3. <em>Grillfest<\/em> (grill party)<br \/>\n4. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/swedish\/the-swedish-kitchen-series-frukost\/\"><em>Frukost<\/em> (breakfast)<\/a> 5. <em>N\u00e4ra naturen<\/em> (close to nature), 6. <em>Lunch<\/em> &#8211; same word<br \/>\n7. <em>Fredagsmys<\/em> (Cozy Friday) 8.\u00a0 <em>Festmiddag<\/em> (dinner party)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nummer sju <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">number seven) is our focus this week; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fredagsmys!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You may have guessed by now that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fredag<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> means Friday, so what about the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mys<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> part? Well, in short <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mys<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> means cozy, but I wrote a whole blog on just <a title=\"As Fall Sets in, Swedes Bring on the \u201cmys\u201d\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/swedish\/as-fall-sets-in-swedes-bring-on-the-mys\/\">how much Swedes enjoy their <em>mys<\/em>, here<\/a>. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fredagsmys<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is about treating yourself at the end of a long week. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Culinarily speaking, simple, yet yummy comfort food comes to mind; pizza, perhaps pasta, tacos, maybe even some thai take out. Many folks like to cook as a family or invite friends over for a chill evening. Enjoying an adult beverage or perhaps a cup of tea over a bowl of chips is commonplace for fredagsmys as well.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8230;speaking of chips, the Swedish chip company OLW has put some wind under the sails of the whole <em>fredagsmys<\/em> concept. &#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Det \u00e4r dags f\u00f6r fredagsmys<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. It\u2019s time for Friday cozy&#8221; is the line in a famous jingle that virtually even Swede can sing.
