Or what do you make of today&#8217;s collection og shelves, eyes, apples and churchbells? Make perfect sense or totally confusing? Any similar expressions in your language?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bita i det sura \u00e4pplet<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning:<\/strong> When you have to do something you really don&#8217;t want to, but there&#8217;s no way out of it.<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> To bite into the sour apple<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> Jag ville inte g\u00f6ra provet, men det var bara att bita i det sura \u00e4pplet. (I didn&#8217;t want to do the test, but I just had to do it, there was no way I couldn&#8217;t.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Att visa var sk\u00e5pet ska st\u00e5<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning:<\/strong> To take control and show how things should be done.<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> To show where to put the cabinet<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> Sverige l\u00e5g under, men s\u00e5 visade \u00e4ntligen Zlatan var sk\u00e5pet ska st\u00e5. (Sweden was losing, but finally Zlatan showed them how things shall be done.)<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nDet var n\u00e4ra \u00f6gat<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning<\/strong>: When something almost happens, when it&#8217;s really really close<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> It was close to the eye<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> Vi krockade inte, men det var n\u00e4ra \u00f6gat (We didn&#8217;t crash, but it was really close.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hon\/Han spottar inte i glaset<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning:<\/strong> Someone who likes to drink<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> She\/he doesn&#8217;t spit in the glass<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> Jennie drack sex \u00f6l, hon spottar inte i glaset direkt. (Jennie drank six beers, she obviously likes to drink.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Klockrent!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning:<\/strong> Brilliant! Correct! Perfect!<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> As clear\/clean as a bell (referring to the sound of a church bell)<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> Tack f\u00f6r tr\u00f6jan, den var klockren! (Thank&#8217;s for the shirt, it was perfect!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Att l\u00e4gga n\u00e5gonting p\u00e5 hyllan<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning:<\/strong> To postpone something, take a break from something<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> To put something on the shelf<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> Jag hann inte med att spela fotboll s\u00e5 jag fick l\u00e4gga den p\u00e5 hyllan ett tag (I didn&#8217;t have time to play football, so I had to take a break from it for a while.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ute och cyklar<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Meaning:<\/strong> To be completely wrong about something<br \/>\n<strong>Literally meaning:<\/strong> To be out cycling<br \/>\n<strong>Example:<\/strong> G\u00f6teborg \u00e4r inte Sveriges huvudstad, nu \u00e4r du ute och cyklar.
