In the previous lesson I taught the adjective baang3 \u0e1a\u0e49\u0e32\u0e07, which roughly translates to mean \u2018some\u2019. Thai has one other similar word, baang1 \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e07, which also roughly translates to mean \u2018some\u2019 but is used differently.<\/p>\n

Before we start, please understand that \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e07 can also be found as syllables of other words, such as various names of districts and even Bangkok \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e07\u0e01\u0e2d\u0e01.<\/p>\n

Generally, baang1 \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e07 means \u2018some\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Note that in the next example I say \u2018something\u2019 twice. It\u2019s not neccessary, but it\u2019s commonly done to emphasive that there is a lot of \u2018something\u2019. It must be done in this order, ie baang1 sing2 \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e07\u0e2a\u0e34\u0e48\u0e07 must always come before baang1 yaang2 \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e07\u0e2d\u0e22\u0e48\u0e32\u0e07.<\/p>\n

In this last example you\u2019ll see the noun said twice. It just slighly changes the meaning, so don\u2019t get hung up on it.<\/p>\n
