There is a joke students like to play on their Thai speaking teachers, one similar to the \u2018who\u2019s on first base\u2019 joke.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student: What does \u0e2d\u0e30\u0e44\u0e23 mean?

\nStudent: What does \u0e2d\u0e30\u0e44\u0e23 mean?

The joke is that <\/span>\u0e2d\u0e30\u0e44\u0e23<\/span> means \u2018what\u2019 . . .<\/span><\/p>\n

During class the other week a student of mine pointed out that the word a<\/span>M<\/sup>rai<\/span>M<\/sup>\u0e2d\u0e30\u0e44\u0e23 <\/span>is confusing due to the many ways it can be used. It has two other meanings, roughly translating to \u2018something\u2019 and \u2018anything\u2019. But in some cases it doesn\u2019t directly translate over very well, so the best way to learn the word would be using the below examples.<\/span><\/p>\n
