It\u2019s a somewhat odd phrase, considering native English speakers wouldn\u2019t use it. We could just accept it as strange and move on, but on the other hand I could explain to you why they say it.<\/p>\n<p>In Thai, the phrase is <strong>\u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48\u0e01\u0e47<\/strong>. Literally, it\u2019s translated as \u2018\u2026or not, likewise\u2026\u2019. It\u2019s a very common phrase you\u2019re likely to hear on a daily basis, so it\u2019s definitely worth learning as a beginner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The phrase consists of three words,<\/p>\n<p>\u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d reu5 &#8211; or<\/p>\n<p>\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48 mai3 \u2013 no\/not<\/p>\n<p>\u0e01\u0e47 gaw3 \u2013 likewise\/therefore<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few examples:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to eat, or if not, go home?<\/p>\n<p>\u0e2d\u0e22\u0e32\u0e01\u0e01\u0e34\u0e19\u0e02\u0e49\u0e32\u0e27\u0e44\u0e2b\u0e21? \u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48\u0e01\u0e47\u0e01\u0e25\u0e31\u0e1a\u0e1a\u0e49\u0e32\u0e19?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>White? Or Black?<\/p>\n<p>\u0e2a\u0e35\u0e02\u0e32\u0e27 \u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48\u0e01\u0e47\u0e2a\u0e35\u0e14\u0e33?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I want the BB 8250 or the 9700 (referring to Blackberry).<\/p>\n<p>\u0e2d\u0e22\u0e32\u0e01\u0e44\u0e14\u0e49 BB 8250 \u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48\u0e01\u0e47 9700<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dissolve Pheu Thai (the political party), or if not . . . have a coup!<\/p>\n<p>\u0e22\u0e38\u0e1a\u0e40\u0e1e\u0e37\u0e48\u0e2d\u0e44\u0e17\u0e22 \u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48\u0e01\u0e47\u2026\u0e23\u0e31\u0e10\u0e1b\u0e23\u0e30\u0e2b\u0e32\u0e23!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If it doesn\u2019t rain, let\u2019s eat out.
