Most pharmacists in Thailand speak enough English that you’ll never need to learn any Thai to get what you want. If they don\u2019t understand, try saying what you want using \u0e17\u0e31\u0e1e\u0e28\u0e31\u0e1e\u0e17\u0e4c<\/strong>, intentionally mispronouncing the medicine name with a strong Thai accent. Or just print this out for them to read it.<\/p>\n

Anyway, if you wanted the easy way out, you wouldn’t be reading this blog. So I’ll give you a list of the most likely needed items and how to say them in Thai. Besides, they’ll come in handy after your first motorcycle accident (or whatever).<\/p>\n

Justs one note before we get started, I’d like to point out the word for tampon. The actual word is \u0e1c\u0e49\u0e32\u0e2d\u0e19\u0e32\u0e21\u0e31\u0e22<\/strong>, but many girls too embarrassed to say it will instead say ‘a loaf of bread’, \u0e02\u0e19\u0e21\u0e1b\u0e31\u0e07<\/strong>. Now you know why your girl makes emergency runs to 7-11 occasionally for bread . . .<\/p>\n

There are other items you made need, but best bought in a grocery store for better selection and price. Don’t count on anyone speaking English. You’ll find most of these items grouped together, so shouldn’t be hard to find unless you\u2019re out in the middle of Nakorn Nowhere . . . and that\u2019s when this list becomes very useful.<\/p>\n
