Its beauty has inspired many artists and writers to create many masterworks depicting this season. Common conversation topics in <em>m\u00f9a thu<\/em> are completely different than other seasons. These are the things you often hear and discussed at least once in this season.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><em>S\u1ef1 thay \u0111\u1ed5i c\u1ee7a kh\u00ed h\u1eadu<\/em><\/strong><strong> (Change in <\/strong><strong>weather)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It\u2019s pretty obvious when it comes to this season. Daylight starts getting shorter, until the change to \u201cDaylight Savings Time\u201d in early November. Temperatures start to drop, especially in the evenings, triggering the change of colors on the tree leaves.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> <em>M<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00f9a g\u1eb7t h\u00e1i <\/em><\/strong><strong>(<\/strong><strong>Harvest season)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is the main topic for families who live in the countryside. <em>M<\/em><em>\u00f9a thu<\/em> is the time to harvest crops that had been planted in the spring and summer such as<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>B\u1eafp<\/em> (Corn)<\/li>\n<li><em>\u0110\u1eadu<\/em><em> n\u00e0nh<\/em> (Soybeans)<\/li>\n<li><em>T\u00e1o<\/em> (Apples)<\/li>\n<li><em>Khoai t\u00e2y<\/em> (Potatoes)<\/li>\n<li><em>B\u00ed ng\u00f4<\/em> (Pumpkin)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> <em>Tr\u1edf<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> l\u1ea1i tr\u01b0\u1eddng h\u1ecdc<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\/T\u1ef1u<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> tr\u01b0\u1eddng<\/em><\/strong><strong> (Return to school)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For children, the arrival of <em>m<\/em><em>\u00f9a <\/em>thu marks the time to <em>tr\u1edf<\/em><em> l\u1ea1i tr\u01b0\u1eddng h\u1ecdc<\/em> (return to school), and to start a <em>ni\u00ean kh\u00f3a m\u1edbi<\/em> (new school year). It has been many years since I was school age, but each time when it comes to <em>m\u00f9a thu<\/em>, seeing kids <em>tr\u1edf<\/em><em> l\u1ea1i tr\u01b0\u1eddng h\u1ecdc<\/em>, lines from the popular short story \u201c<em>T\u00f4i<\/em><em> \u0110i H\u1ecdc<\/em>\u201d (I go to School) written by <em>Thanh T\u1ecbnh<\/em>, always come to mind:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c&#8230;.H\u1eb1ng n\u0103m, c\u1ee9 v\u00e0o cu\u1ed1i thu, l\u00e1 ngo\u00e0i \u0111\u01b0\u1eddng r\u1ee5ng nhi\u1ec1u v\u00e0 tr\u00ean kh\u00f4ng c\u00f3 nh\u1eefng \u0111\u00e1m m\u00e2y b\u00e0ng b\u1ea1c, l\u00f2ng t\u00f4i l\u1ea1i nao n\u1ee9c nh\u1eefng k\u1ef7 ni\u1ec7m hoang mang c\u1ee7a bu\u1ed5i t\u1ef1u tr\u01b0\u1eddng&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em><em>&#8230;Each year, <\/em><em>when it comes to the end of autumn, many leaves fall on the street, and <\/em><em>silver<\/em><em> clouds float above, my heart is filled with bewildering memories of the return<\/em><em> to school day<\/em><em>s<\/em><em>&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can easily find this story both in Vietnamese and English translations online. It\u2019s very short and easy to read. I strongly recommend it.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> <em>Trang tr\u00ed<\/em><\/strong><strong> <em>c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>ho <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>m\u00f9a thu<\/em><\/strong><strong> (<\/strong><strong>Decoration for <\/strong><strong>Autumn)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>One of many reasons that I like Autumn is because of its many ideas for decoration. I would say, fall has the most festivals compared to other seasons, at least where I live.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong><em>M\u00f9a d\u1ecdn d\u1eb9p<\/em> (Clean-up season)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Nothing lasts forever. Fall beauty comes with a big price for people who have big yards! After the tree leaves turn to gorgeous bright red, orange, and yellow colors; they start to shed. Not only do you have to clean up your yard, you may have to clean the gutter as well. It\u2019s also the season when you see spiders making cobwebs everywhere. With this seasonal change, its time to switch the light summer clothes into thicker, warmer clothes for Fall and Winter in the closet. That means time to clean-up the closet, too.<\/p>\n<p>For me, it\u2019s okay to be busy in the Fall with all the clean-up because I know when the winter comes, I\u2019ll have plenty of time to rest and get stuck in the house. Fall always brings me some sort of inspiration and some sort of melancholy, a feeling that is hard to describe.
