You see all sorts of decorations inside houses and across yards, from airports to stores, from large boulevards to little alleys. Whether big or small, simple or elaborate, you can spot decorations around the world, including Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u0110\u1ed2<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> TRANG TR\u00cd<\/em><\/strong><strong> &#8211; <\/strong><strong>DECORATION ITEMS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each place may decorate with different themes and color schemes. Really, it doesn\u2019t matter, as long as they have the essential, common <em>\u0111\u1ed3<\/em><em> trang tr\u00ed<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>C\u00e2y th\u00f4ng <\/em>\u2013 Pine tree<\/li>\n<li><em>Tr\u00e1i<\/em><em>\/qu\u1ea3 th\u00f4ng <\/em>&#8211; Pine cone<\/li>\n<li><em>Nh\u00e1nh<\/em><em> th\u00f4ng \u2013 <\/em>Pine branch<\/li>\n<li><em>Tr\u00e1i\/qu\u1ea3 ch\u00e2u <\/em>\u2013 Bauble<\/li>\n<li><em>Hoa tuy\u1ebft <\/em>\u2013 Snowflake<\/li>\n<li><em>Ng\u01b0\u1eddi tuy\u1ebft <\/em>\u2013 Snowman<\/li>\n<li><em>Con <\/em><em>Tu\u1ea7n<\/em><em> l\u1ed9c \u2013<\/em> Reindeer<\/li>\n<li><em>V\u00f2ng<\/em><em> nguy\u1ec7t qu\u1ebf <\/em>\u2013 Laurel wreath<\/li>\n<li><em>Hoa<\/em><em> Tr\u1ea1ng nguy\u00ean \u2013 <\/em>Poinsettia flower<\/li>\n<li><em>B\u00edt-t\u1ea5t <\/em>\u2013 Stockings\/socks<\/li>\n<li><em>D\u00e2y \u0111\u00e8n \u2013<\/em> Light strings<\/li>\n<li><em>\u0110<\/em><em>\u00e8n nh\u1ea5p nh\u00e1y \u2013 <\/em>Blinking lights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CREATIVE MATERIALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not everybody could afford a <em>c<\/em><em>\u00e2y th\u00f4ng<\/em> and <em>\u0111\u1ed3<\/em><em> trang tr\u00ed<\/em>. I saw some very creative <em>t\u1ef1 l\u00e0m<\/em> (do it yourself) projects. I would say, the most available and cheapest material for any project is <em>gi\u1ea5y<\/em> (paper). It\u2019s fun to get your kids involved making some origami ornaments.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, no snow to see snowflakes? Let\u2019s make some with a simple piece of paper!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Paper Snowflake \/ Christmas Snowflake \u2744\ufe0f\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gd16lzklXUM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you have a chance to go to the parks that have <em>c<\/em><em>\u00e2y th\u00f4ng<\/em><em>, <\/em>just pick a bunch of dried <em>qu\u1ea3 th\u00f4ng<\/em> that have dropped on the ground to bring home for decorations. Some years, I have made a centerpiece plate\/bowl with just all natural materials. Here is what I use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Tr\u00e1i<\/em><em>\/qu\u1ea3 th\u00f4ng <\/em>&#8211; Pine cones<\/li>\n<li><em>Nh\u00e1nh<\/em><em> tr\u00e1i \u00f4-r\u00f4 \u2013 <\/em>Holly branch<\/li>\n<li><em>M\u1ea1n<\/em><em>\/Nam vi\u1ec7t qu\u1ea5t \u2013 <\/em>Cranberries<\/li>\n<li><em>Que qu\u1ebf <\/em>\u2013 Cinnamon sticks<\/li>\n<li><em>Hoa<\/em><em> h\u1ed3i &#8211; <\/em><em>Star Anises<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Tr\u00e1i<\/em><em> t\u00e1o \u2013 <\/em>Apples<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Or I just spread the items listed above on <em>a strip of v<\/em><em>\u1ea3i bao b\u00ec <\/em><em>(burlap) <\/em>across the table.<\/p>\n<p>One year, I saw my co-worker pop a bag of popcorn at work, but didn\u2019t eat it. Guess what? She made a popcorn garland string to decorate the tree in the office!<\/p>\n<p>Imagine you have a Christmas party and everything hanging on the Christmas tree is edibles: popcorn garland, gingerbread cookies, chocolate stars, candy canes, etc. The creative edible ornaments are something fun and I\u2019m sure everyone would enjoy \u201cpicking\u201d it to munch along with a warm cup of chocolate or coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam has a tropical climate, but don\u2019t be fool into thinking you couldn\u2019t find any pine trees there. Along the coastlines, you\u2019ll find a lot of <em>c\u00e2y d\u01b0\u01a1ng li\u1ec5u<\/em>, also known as <em>phi lao<\/em>. It\u2019s the Australian pine\u2019s, scientific name Casuarina Esquisetifolia. To me, as long as you can find some sprigs of any type of pine, you can make use of a pretty, Christmas decoration.<\/p>\n<p>After all, it\u2019s not how expensive or elaborate the decor is that brings you joy, it\u2019s about the spirit of celebrating the season with family and friends.
