The economic boom has created many money-making business opportunities for a lot of enterprising people. As a result, a whole new \u201cred bourgeois\u201d class was born over the past twenty years with a group of <em>nouveau riche<\/em> (super rich individuals).<\/p>\n<p>In Vietnamese, <strong><em>nh\u00e0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> t\u1ef7<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> ph\u00fa<\/em><\/strong> means a billionaire, <strong><em>nh\u00e0 tri\u1ec7u ph\u00fa<\/em><\/strong> means a millionaire, and the term <strong><em>\u0111\u1ea1i gia<\/em><\/strong> is used to indicate a rich person in general.<\/p>\n<p>With so much cash available while labor and raw materials are still cheap, new housing construction has popped up everywhere like mushrooms from the big cities to the countryside. <em>T\u1eed<\/em><em> b\u1eafc v\u00f4 nam<\/em> (from north to south), especially in large cities like <em>H\u00e0<\/em><em> N\u1ed9i, H\u1ea3i Ph\u00f2ng, Ninh<\/em><em> B\u00ecnh, Thanh H\u00f3a, \u0110\u00e0 N\u1eb5ng<\/em>, and <em>S\u00e0i G\u00f2n<\/em>, some notable unique buildings are worth mentioning. These luxury villas and mansions with unique architecture and interior design were all recently built within the last ten years, at outrageous costs in comparison to an average Vietnamese income.<\/p>\n<p>The Vietnamese word for villas\/mansions is <strong><em>bi\u1ec7t th\u1ef1<\/em><\/strong>, castle is <strong><em>l\u00e2u \u0111\u00e0i<\/em><\/strong>, and palace is<strong><em> cung \u0111i\u1ec7n<\/em><\/strong>. I\u2019ll use these Vietnamese words extensively in this blog. Let\u2019s visit some interesting houses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CUNG<\/strong><strong> \u0110I\u1ec6N TH\u00c0NH TH\u1eaeNG (THANH THANG PALACE)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>Cung \u0111i\u1ec7n <\/em><em>Th\u00e0nh Th\u1eafng\u201d<\/em> situated in <em>Ninh B\u00ecnh<\/em> city, built in 2016 and completed in 2019 by the businessman Mr. \u0110\u1ed7 V\u0103n Ti\u1ebfn. The construction site was around 3.6 acres on an approximately 7 acres lot. The building has 5 floors, around 27,000 sq ft of living space, with its height equivalent to eleven storeys. The cost was in the hundreds of millions of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>With this mega size, it\u2019s the biggest and tallest private home in Vietnam at the time of completion, as well as in Southeast Asia. It appears to me that <em>Cung \u0111i\u1ec7n <\/em><em>Th\u00e0nh Th\u1eafng<\/em>\u2019s architecture and design emulate the European Rococo style.<\/p>\n<p>What you see in the below YouTube video is a brief tour of the <em>Cung \u0111i\u1ec7n <\/em><em>Th\u00e0nh Th\u1eafng. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"L\u1ea1c L\u1ed1i trong CUNG \u0110I\u1ec6N TH\u00c0NH TH\u1eaeNG - L\u00e2u \u0110\u00e0i Ngh\u00ecn T\u1ef7 L\u1edaN NH\u1ea4T \u0110\u00f4ng Nam \u00c1 | nhaTO REVIEW\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kT8ye6nC1lg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the video, <em>cung \u0111i\u1ec7n <\/em><em>Th\u00e0nh Th\u1eafng<\/em> is quite flamboyant, very ornamental with intricate woodwork from walls to ceilings. According to the YouTube narrator, <em>c\u00e1i<\/em><em> \u0111\u00e8n tr\u00f9m<\/em> (the chandelier) in the house is gold plated and imported from Iran.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BI\u1ec6T<\/strong><strong> TH\u1ef0 GH\u00c9P G\u1ed0M (MOSAIC VILLA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This luxury <strong><em>bi\u1ec7t th\u1ef1<\/em><\/strong> is quite impressive because it\u2019s known for the extensive design using <em><strong>g\u1ed1m<\/strong><\/em> (pottery, ceramic) mosaic. Completed in 2017, the owner, who owns Quang Minh Mosaic in <em>B\u00e1t Tr\u00e0ng<\/em> village, <em>Gia L\u00e2m<\/em> county<em>, H\u00e0<\/em> N\u00f4i, used over 2.5 million pieces of <strong><em>g\u1ed1m <\/em><\/strong>in his home\u2019s mosaic design. It\u2019s recognized as the largest <em>bi\u1ec7t th\u1ef1 gh\u00e9p g\u1ed1m<\/em> in Vietnam. For centuries, <em>B\u00e1t Tr\u00e0ng<\/em> has been known for its pottery industry. Most of them seem modeled after Western architectural styles than Asian styles. Land has become outrageously expensive.
