Bezalel Arts and Crafts Fair in Jerusalem Posted by on Jul 26, 2013 in Uncategorized

Looking for that special gift for a friend? How about a souvenir of your visit to Jerusalem or a really good skincare product? Then you will love downtown Jerusalem’s Bezalel Arts Fair. Each Friday, approximately 150 Israeli artists display their creativity and inventiveness on Bezalel Hakatan Street between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the summer (9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. for the rest of the year) – just a short walk away from the Mall on Ben Yehuda Street.

You’ll find all kinds of things here, such as handmade jewelry, contemporary Judaica, hand-painted challah covers, colorful coasters with images of Zionist leaders (with a Warhol influence), wind chimes, books, and paintings. There’s even a henna artist on hand for a little body decoration.

The street sits next to the original site of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design which was established in 1906. The current campus is located on Mount Scopus. The stone walls surrounding the building frame one side of the alley; the other side is lined with cafes and boutiques, which make the pass a worthy stroll on any other day of the week as well.
