Hebrew Slang You Already Know Posted by on Oct 23, 2012 in Learning Hebrew

Listening to conversational Hebrew (you know, what you hear when walking down the street, not the kind you hear in books or language courses), there’s going to be some words that sound familiar to the English ear. Here’s a listing of words that may be useful for you to use in your own conversations. You can say them as in English and be understood:

אס – ace
ביבי – baby (as a term of endearment)
בוס – boss
באג – (computer) bug
בי – bye
סלב – celeb
קול – cool
דרלינג – darling
דיג׳יי – DJ
פנטסטי – fantastic
פריק – freak
גרוגי – groggy
היי – hi
הלו – hello
ג׳אנק – junk (useless rubbish, not drugs)
קינג – king
לוסר – loser
מאמי – mommy
נו וויי – no way
אאוט – out (outdated)
או קיי – okay
פּרפקט – perfect
קויקי – quickie
רוק׳נרול – rock ‘n’ roll
שופּינג – shopping
סנוב – snob
סטייל – style
וואו – wow

These also made it into Hebrew from English, thanks to American movies and TV:
