Do you know how to form the abstract nouns in Hindi?
Abstract Noun are called भाववाचक संज्ञा (Bhaavavachak Sangya) in Hindi. They are quite important in Hindi. Let’s see, how can we form the abstract nouns by the common nouns, adjectives and verbs through examples.
Notice the ending in the formed abstract nouns in the following examples.
जातिवाचक संज्ञा से भाववाचक संज्ञा – Abstract noun from Common noun
लड़का (Ladka – Boy) -> लड़कपन (Ladakpan – Boyhood)

चलना (Chalna- to walk) -> चाल (Chaal – Movement/Gait)
उड़ना (Udana – to fly) -> उड़न (Udan – Flight)
गिरना (Girna – to fall) -> गिरावट (Giravat – Fall)
धुलना (Dhulna – to wash) -> धुलाई (Dhulai – Washing)
