We’re going to take a look at the verb, “to be” in it’s various forms.
I am – main huun (मैंहूं)
We are – ham hain (हम हैं)
You are – aap hain (आप हैं)
He/She is – vah hai (वह है)
They are – ve hain (वे हैं)
Here are some demonstratives that can also serve as pronouns.
This – yeh/yah (यह)
That – woh/wah (वह)
These – ye (ये)
Those – ve (वे)
Note: In Hindi, when you want to say, “This is a house” the word order is: 1) Demonstrative pronoun 2) House 3) Is or simply, yah ghar hai (यह घर है). The verb, “to be” comes at the end of the sentence, with a noun preceding it. It’s a different word order from the English. Notice here that the indefinite article “a” was not used in this sentence.
