In recent news of unusual happenings. the Guinness World Records holder for the world’s longest fingernails नाखून (naakhoon) on a single hand, Shridhar Chillal, decided to part with them in a nail-clipping ceremony in New York.

Chillal, who is now 82, had been growing his fingernails on his left hand since the age of 16 १६ साल की उम्र से (solah saal ki umr se). The longest was his thumbnail अँगूठे का नाखून (angoothe ka nakhoon) and measured 77.9 inches. The total length कुल लंबाई (kul lambaai) of the nails on his left hand  बायां हाथ (baayaa haath) equaled that of a London bus, reports say.

Although Chillal’s nails earned him international fame अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रसिद्धि(antarraashtriya prasiddhi), he reportedly suffered pain कष्ट (kasht) from the weight of भार से (bhaar se) the nails. He had to take great care to ensure that they didn’t break when he was sleeping, and also used modified equipment in his career as a photographer.

Chillal’s clipped nails are now on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Times Square, New York. अब चिल्लाल के कटे हुए नाखून  (ab Chillal ke kate hue naakhoon) Times Square, New York  में  Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum में देखे जा सकते हैं (mein dekhe jaa sakte hain).
