Tomorrow is Nyepi, the Balinese New Year. It’s also known as the Day of Silence, because the entire island shuts down. It’s a day of fasting, meditating, and reflecting. No cars are on the road, no businesses are open, and even the airport is closed. In the lead-up to the holiday, there’s a lot going on, from sacred ceremonies to parades of creepy ogoh-ogoh monsters.
