Podcast #06 – Inviting and Accepting (or Refusing) Posted by on Oct 31, 2009 in Intermediário

Hello, there.

Are you busy this evening?
Are you doing anything tonight? I was wondering if you’d like to go to the theater with me.
Are you going to be busy this evening?
I was thinking of going to the theater tonight. Would you like to come?
Some friends and I are going to the movies. Would you like to join us?

I’d love to.
Sure. What time?
That’d be very nice.
That’s a great idea.

Se você não quiser, pode dizer:

I’m afraid I’m busy tonight. Maybe some other time.
Tonight’s a problem, I’m sorry. What about tomorrow night?
I’ve got some people coming over tonight. Can I take a rain check?

A expressão to take a rain check significa que você vai deixar o convite em aberto, para aceitá-lo em outra oportunidade ou combinar algo para outro dia.
