01. shake something off – livrar-se de algo, não importar-se com algo
Come on, don’t be sad about it, shake it off. – Vamos lá, não fique triste com isso, deixa pra lá.

02. grow up – crescer
I grew up on a farm. – Eu cresci numa fazenda.

03. come in – ir a (trabalho)
Ellen didn’t come in today. I wonder what happened. – Ellen não veio trabalhar hoje. O que será que aconteceu?

04. get together – reunir-se
Let’s get together for lunch soon. – Vamos nos reunir para almoçar em breve.

05. track down – achar, encontrar (depois de procurar)
He tracked me down on Facebook. – Ele me achou no Facebook.

06. add up – fazer sentido
This just doesn’t add up. – Isso não faz sentido.

07. find out – descobrir (fato), ficar sabendo
Did she find out her husband was cheating on her? – Ela descobriu que seu marido a estava traindo?

08. show off – exibir-se
He keeps showing off his new car. – Ele fica exibindo seu novo carro.

09. luck out – dar sorte
You lucked out, we were just on our way out. – Você deu sorte, estávamos de saída.

10. pull over – parar (carro), encostar
We saw the police car and pulled over. – Vimos o carro da polícia e paramos.

11. run into – encontrar (alguém) por acaso
You’ll never guess who I ran into today. – Você não vai adivinhar quem eu encontrei hoje.

12. hook up – conectar (alguém)
Can you hook me up with your hair stylist? – Me passa o contato do seu cabeleireiro?

13. wuss out – “cair fora”, perder a coragem (gíria)
Why did you wuss out in the end? – Por que você caiu fora no final?

14. lead on – enganar
She was led on by that man. – Ela foi enganada por aquele homem.

15. figure out – entender, resolver algo
I still haven’t figured out how I’m going to get to Rio. – Ainda não resolvi como vou chegar ao Rio.

16. get over – recuperar-se (de doença, etc.), esquecer (alguém)
Has he gotten over his ex-girlfriend? – Ele já esqueceu da ex-namorada?

17. mess up – bagunçar, “ferrar”
You really messed up this time. – Você realmente ferrou tudo desta vez.
