Pronunciar frases com a terceira condicional requer o uso de várias palavrinhas que você terá de contrair, para falar naturalmente em inglês. Veja por exemplo a frase:

If you had not called me I would not have known about it.

Se você pronunciar cada palavra separadamente não vai soar natural e certamente bem estrangeiro. Um americano pronunciaria a frase da seguinte forma:

If you hadn’t called me I wouldn’t have known about it.

Em vez de dizermos wouldn’t have, diremos algo como wouldn’ve, o t da palavra not desaparece, ou em outras situações, o have soará como a, como woudna. Escute novamente:

If you hadn’t called me I wouldn’t have known about it.

Vamos praticar com algumas contrações da oração que contém o if. Primeiro você vai ouvir a forma lenta e depois a forma mais rápida, comum na fala dos americanos:

1. If I had been… – If I’d been…
2. If I had not called… – If I hadn’t called…
3. If she had seen… – If she’d seen…
4. If they had gone… – If they’d gone…

Seguimos para a segunda parte, que é a que contém os modal verbs. Você ouvirá primeiramente a forma lenta, depois duas formas contraídas e comuns no inglês americano.

1. would have – would’ve – woulda
2. would not have – wouldn’ve – wouldna
3. could have – could’ve – coulda
4. could not have – couldn’ve – couldna
5. should not have – shouldn’ve – shouldna

Nas perguntas, o verbo have soa como /əv/, por exemplo, uma frase como:

Would you have been there? soa como Would you əv been there?
