A formação do imperativo em inglês é muito fácil em inglês: basta eliminar o to do infinitivo e na forma negativa acrescente don’t ao infinitivo sem to.

Stop doing that!
Pare de fazer isso!

Be a man!
Seja homem!

Don’t go over there!
Não vá lá!

Don’t tell anybody about this!
Não conte a ninguém sobre isso!

Casos especiais

1. O imperativo não exige um sujeito explícito em inglês, então consideramos que you seja o sujeito.

(You) stop doing that!
(You) be a man!

2. Muitas vezes usamos a palavra you, no imperativo negativo, para dar mais ênfase ou mesmo um tom de ameaça.

Don’t you touch that wire!
Não toque nesse fio!

Don’t you tell anybody about this!
Não conte a ninguém sobre isso!

Don’t you come in here!
Não entre aqui!

3. Quando deixamos o you explícito no imperativo, salientamos uma ou mais pessoas a quem a ordem é dirigida.

You wait here!
Você(s) espere(m) aqui!

You be quiet!
Você(s) fique(m) quieto(s)!

4. Para tornar o imperativo mais educado, acrescentamos a palavra please (por favor).

Turn off the lights, please.
Apague as luzes, por favor.

Answer the phone, please.
Atenda o telefone, por favor.

5. Quando nos dirigimos a um grupo de pessoas, podemos usar o imperativo com everybody (todo mundo), somebody (alguém), nobody (ninguém) e don’t anybody (ninguém).

Everybody pay attention!
Todos presten atenção!

Somebody close that window!
Alguém fecha aquela janela!

Nobody say a word!
Ninguém diga uma palavra!

Don’t anybody leave the room!
Ninguém saia da sala!

6. O imperativo também é usado com uma question tag.

Bring me a glass of water, will you?
Me traz um copo d’água, tá?

Turn the TV off, will you?
Desliga a TV, tá?

7. Dois imperativos são unidos pela palavra and.

Come and see us one of these days.
Venha nos ver um dia desses.

Go and get yourself an ice cream.
Vai comprar um sorvete pra você.

Com o verbo to try pode-se usar tanto and como to.

Try and open this bottle of wine.
Try to open this bottle of wine.
Tente abrir esta garrafa de vinho.
