At a service station Posted by Adir on Mar 8, 2011 in Spanish Vocabulary
Hey, how have you all been?
Let’s suppose you’re traveling in a Spanish-speaking country. You decide to rent a car and here are some useful sentences when you go to a service station. As you don’t know where things are, you can start by asking where the service station is:
¿Hay una estación de servicio por aquí? – Is there a service station nearby?
¿Dónde puedo encontrar una estación de servicio? – Where can I find a service station?
When you get to the service station, you can ask the clerk:
Quiero diez litros – I want ten liters…
… de gasolina. – … of gas.
… de gasóleo/diésel. – … of diesel.
... de normal. – … of regular unleaded.
…de extra/premium/etc. …of extra/premium (high-octane unleaded).
¿Podría revisarme... – Could you check…
… el agua? – … the water?
… el aceite? – … the oil?
… el líquido de frenos? – … the brake fluid?
… la batería? – … the battery?
¿Podría limpiar el parabrisas? – Could you clean the windscreen?
¿Podría repararme esta goma/llanta? – Could you repair this tire for me?
¿Me revisa la presión de las ruedas? – Could you check the tire pressure?
¿Me lo llena? – Fill it up, please.
Note: Most Latin Americans use the word la llanta for tire. Argentineans use the word la goma. In Spain they use the word el neumático or la rueda, and la llanta in Spain is the rim of a car wheel.
