Hola ¿Qué tal?
Today we are going to practice the basic rules of Spanish pronunciation. In the original theory video lesson we looked at how to pronounce all of the letters of the alphabet in Spanish and now we will see if you can use this knowledge to correctly pronounce various Spanish words.
Answers to all tasks involved in this lesson will be given at the end of the video and you can also follow a link with this post to watch the original theory video lesson on the same topic.

Practicing the basic Spanish pronunciation rules
You are now going to see a list of Spanish words and I would like you to say them out loud. At the end of the video I will also say the same words so you can see if you pronounced them correctly. You can find the meaning of the words written down with the rest of the information from this video on our website. So, let´s see the list of words:
Casa
Hijo
Pero
Perro
Camino
Ceniza
Jarabe
Queso
Paella
Veinticuatro
Valencia
Cerveza
Niño
Genial
Guinda
Ramillete
Llorar
Gragea
Mazapán
Pollo
How did you get on?
Now I am going to say the words. Listen carefully to the pronunciation:
Casa – house
Hijo – son
Pero – but
Perro – dog
Camino – way, path
Ceniza – ash
Jarabe – medicine syrup
Queso – cheese
Paella – traditional Spanish rice dish
Veinticuatro – 24
Valencia – Spanish city on the East coast
Cerveza – beer
Niño – boy
Genial – great
Guinda – glace cherry
Ramillete – bouquet
Llorar – to cry
Gragea – lozenge
Mazapán – marzipan
Pollo – chicken
This if all for today´s lesson.
I recommend you practice these words a few times and think about the pronunciation rules we saw in the original video lesson. Whenever you are fully confident with the rules, try to read out loud different texts from Spanish books or the Internet. I recommend you choose texts that you have already read and understand so that you can put the correct intonation on the words.
See you next time!
