¡Hola! ¿Qué tal?
Hoy vamos a practicar cómo elegir si usar un verbo en indicativo o en subjuntivo cuando expresamos nuestra opinión. Today we are going to practice how to choose whether to use the Spanish Indicative or Subjunctive when giving our opinion.
Answers to all tasks involved in this lesson will be given at the end of the post and you can also follow a link with this post to watch the original theory video lesson on the same topic.

Intermediate theory video lesson 23
1. First I will say a few sentences expressing opinion in Spanish. I will repeat each twice: one time using a verb in indicative and the other in subjunctive. You should repeat the correct one. For example, if I say “Es innegable que este libro es muy bueno” and “Es innegable que este libro sea muy bueno”. The correct one is the first choice, as “Es innegable que” is an expression used to state facts, so always needs a verb in indicative after the word “que”:
Es lógico que estás cansado / Es lógico que estés cansado.
Es cierto que hace calor / Es cierto que haga calor.
Es seguro que voy a volver / Es seguro que vaya a volver.
Está claro que está mal / Está claro que esté mal.
2. Next, please translate the following sentences stating facts from English to Spanish:
It’s undeniable that this restaurant is very good.
It’s demonstrated that this cleaner is the best.
It’s undoubtable that life is a mystery.
It’s obvious that you should read the instructions.
It’s sure that we need to talk.
3. Now, please translate the following sentences making evaluations from English to Spanish:
It’s important that you talk to your sister.
It’s unfair that the teacher helps him.
It’s likely that tomorrow it is going to rain.
It’s normal that you feel tired.
It’s sad that you are not going to see her ever again.
4. Finally, I will say some sentences in Spanish and I would like you to tell me if the use of the Spanish Subjunctive is correct or not:
Es una pena que no puedas venir con nosotros.
Está claro que sea muy divertido.
Es verdad que tenga mucho frío.
Es triste que no recuerdes a tu abuelo.
Es vergonzoso que no arregléis vuestros problemas.
Bueno, pues esto es todo por hoy.
I hope you have enjoyed practicing the important topics in this review lesson. If you are not always sure if an opinion is stating a fact or making an evaluation, don´t worry too much. The most straightforward way not to make mistakes is to memorize which expressions use indicative and which ones use subjunctive.
Que paséis una buena semana.
