In this Spanish lesson we are going to practice talking about the weather in Spanish. First we will learn some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short audio conversation in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Transcript:

Douglas: Hola Paula. ¿Cómo estás?
Paula: ¡Tengo mucho frío!
Douglas: ¿Todavía no estás acostumbrada a este clima británico?
Paula: ¡Nunca me acostumbraré a este clima tan horrible!
Douglas: Parece que llevas un abrigo buenísimo. Seguro que te da suficiente calor ¿no? Y esas botas parecen buenas…
Paula: Este es un abrigo fantástico y estas botas son muy buenas, ¡pero nada me va a poder proteger del clima que hemos tenido esta semana!
Douglas: Ayer hizo una tormenta horrible, eso es verdad. Un árbol gigantesco se cayó en nuestro jardín y casi le dio a nuestra casa.
Paula: ¡Las rachas de viento han sido una locura! ¡¡Apenas se podía estar de pie!!
Douglas: ¿Y viste el granizo de la semana pasada?
Paula: ¡¡Del tamaño de pelotas de golf!! Nunca había visto nada igual. ¿Qué hago aquí? Echo mucho de menos el clima de España.
Douglas: Hace demasiado calor en España.
Paula: ¡¿Estás de broma?!
Douglas: Y he visto aguaceros más fuertes en el sur de España que aquí en Inglaterra.
Paula: Quizás. Pero solo una o dos veces al año. Aquí llueve todo el tiempo y es difícil distinguir veranos e inviernos.
Douglas: No soporto el clima húmedo y bochornoso de España. En Inglaterra hace mucho más fresco.
Paula: Estoy de acuerdo en que hace más fresco. ¡Pero demasiado! ¡El hombre del tiempo ha dicho que va a nevar y estamos en mayo!
Douglas: Me encanta tener un poco de nieve. A mis hijos les encanta sacar sus trineos.
Paula: ¡Apuesto a que les encantaría sacar sus cubos y palas e ir a la playa también! ¡Los trineos son para enero y febrero! ¡Tendríamos que ir la playa!
Douglas: Las temperaturas van a bajar esta noche. Y va a hacer menos de cero grados. Los viajes a la playa deberán suspenderse.
Paula: Más bien olvidarse.
