In this Spanish lesson we will practice using some irregular verbs of El Futuro Imperfecto. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening.

El Futuro Imperfecto corresponds with the future ‘will’ tense in English. These are the rules of how to conjugate the verbs for this tense:

yo hablaré/aprenderé/viviré
tú hablarás/aprenderás/vivirás
el/ella/usted hablará/aprenderá/vivirá
nosotros/as hablaremos/aprenderemos/viviremos
vosotros/as hablaréis/aprenderéis/viviréis
ellos/ellas/ustedes hablarán/aprenderán/vivirán

Irregular verbs that remove the vowel “e”:
Caber: cabr-: cabrá: It will fit
Haber: Habr-: habrá: There will be
Poder: podr-: podrá: He/She will be able
Querer: querr-: querrá: He/She will want
Saber: sabr-: sabrá: He/She will know

Irregular verbs that remove the “e” and add a “d”:
Poner : pondr-: pondrá: He/She will put
Tener: tendr-: tendrá: He/She/It will have
Valer: valdr-: valdrá: It will cost
Venir: vendr-: vendrá: He/She will come
Salir. saldr-: saldrá: He/She will leave

Others:
Decir: dir-: dirá: He/She will say
Hacer: har. hará: He/She will do

Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.

Ana: Hola Mike, ¿Qué tal?
Mike: Bien ¿y tú?
Ana: Muy bien. Esta noche voy a una fiesta de disfraces.
Mike: ¿Ah sí? ¿Y qué te vas a poner?
Ana: No sé. Creo que me pondré un disfraz de bruja.
Mike: ¿De bruja? ¿Es una fiesta de Halloween?
Ana: No, pero es el único disfraz que tengo. Va a ser una fiesta sin un tema específico. Habrá todo tipo de música, bebidas y algo para comer.
Mike: ¿Crees que habrá mucha gente?
Ana: Mmmm… No sé. Vendrán Lisa y Martín. Si quieres puedes venir también. Creo que podré llevar un invitado.
Mike: ¿Seguro que podré ir?
