What will you have done tomorrow evening? Posted by on Feb 8, 2013 in Spanish Grammar

¡Hola, mi gente! ¿Cómo les va? Espero que estén todos bien.

Today we are going to take a look at the verb tense Futuro Perfecto de Indicativo. Adir, what the heck is that? Acálmate that I’m going to explain.

First of all, it’s a future tense (you probably know that already!). Now, we call it perfect because it is made up of auxiliary verb haber (in the future) and the past participle of the main verb.

Let me make it easier for you:

Yo habré amado = I will have loved
habrás hablado = You will have spoken [singular]
Él habrá hecho = He will have done
Nosotros habremos salido = We will have left
Vosotros habréis llamado = You will have called [plural]
Ellos habrán comido = They will have eaten

Check out the following examples:

Yo habré hablado con él cuando llegues.
I will have spoken with him when you arrive.

¿Ya habrás leído el libro antes de las vacaciones?
Will you have read the book before your vacation?

El alcalde habrá concluído la construcción de autopistas cuando cese su mandato.
The mayor will have finished the construction of highways when his term of office ends.

Cuando mi equipo venza, nosotros ya habremos elegido adónde ir a celebrar.
When my team wins, we will already have chosen where to go celebrate.

Para los próximos exámanes de Matemáticas, vosotros ya habréis entendido las ecuaciones de según grado.
For the next Math exams, you [plural] will already have understood the quadratic equations.

Para mediados del mes que viene, los diputados habrán aprobado la nueva ley.
By next month, the congressmen will have passed the new law.

Exercise! Complete the following sentences with the Futuro Perfect form of the verbs in parentheses.

¿Por qué Julián no … a cenar? (venir)
I wonder why Julián hasn’t come to dinner.

En pocos minutos (tú) … el examen.(terminar)
In a few minutes you will have finished your test.

Cuando lleguemos al cine la película ya … (empezar).
When we get to the theater the movie will have already started.

¿(Ellos) … después del almuerzo? (ir)
Will they have gone after lunch?

¿(Yo) … bien los ejercicios del examen? (hacer)
I wonder if I have done the test exercises well.

En algunos meses (nosotros) … el proyecto. (finalizar)
In a few months we will have finished the project.

Mañana (vosotros) … de todo lo que pasó hoy. (olvidarse)
Tomorrow you will have forgotton about everything that happened today.

¿Quién … la puerta del jardín abierta? (dejar)
I wonder who has left the garden gate open.

Check out tomorrow for the answers!
