Do you love eating street food, but not necessarily enjoy eating in the street? Would you like to indulge in all of the best street food of Thailand, minus the sweltering heat and the rats? Well then you should probably check out Eathai. Located in the fancy Central Embassy mall of Bangkok, this is quite possibly the best food court ever.
The Central Embassy in Bangkok.
This impressive food court is split up into different sections highlighting the cuisine of all regions of Thailand. From a tasty bowl of khao soi (ข้าวซอย – kâao soi) from the north, to tasty larb moo (ลาบหมู – lâap mŏo) from Isan, to spicy massaman curry (แกงมัสมั่น – gaeng mát-sà-màn) from the south, you can find it all and then some here.
There’s even a tuk-tuk here!
Very well set-up and decorated.
Leave your preconceived notions about food courts at the door, because this ain’t full of terrible greasy fast food. It’s sparkling clean, very well decorated, and it’s all nice and spaced out. While you enjoy your food, you can even get a fresh squeezed juice, a glass of wine, or a cocktail.
Decisions, decisions.
Upon entry, you’re given a credit card that you can use at all of the various vendors, so trying a variety of dishes is simple and encouraged. Simply swipe the card on your way out and the bill is all sorted. There’s even a fresh market here, where you can pick up plenty of ingredients to make your very own Thai feast at home.
Hit the market on the way out.
I’m not generally a fan of shopping malls or food courts, but this is far and away one of the best places I’ve eaten on all my travels through Thailand. My only regret is that I didn’t go there hungrier – there are just so many choices and it’s tough to pass some of them up!
Peruse the many menus here.
