As the floods slowly move onto Bangkok, Facebook has been filling up with information about the floods. As I grew up in the US, emergency preparedness was something you learned since childhood. To us, it’s really just common sense. Although massive flooding happens every year in Thailand, Bangkok floods only about once every 10-15 years. The internet didn’t even exist in Thailand the last time Bangkok was flooded! As such, many people don’t yet know the basics and so that’s the information I’m seeing passed around.
As such, I’ll translate a list of what you’ll find in an evacuation ‘kit’ in Thai for you. If you’ve seen the ‘emergency kit’ posts in Facebook, too, see if you can match some of this up. It’s good practice.
